I have a choice between these 2 clutch plates to use with my RB30 turbo. I am unsure as to which one is superior and in what way. What do you guys think? They are both used, the first one is in better condition than the second but the second will clean up ok. the second looks like brass button five prong clutch ? and the 1st clutch just a normal one? i have the second one if it what i think and is very good i went though a couple of the normal ones i have a 5sd turbo 245hp at the back wheels ( sorry did have before i done a ring land   ) the norm use to slip a lot so went for the second but is a little touchy at the light if a friend drives it i can bet my balls he will stall it at least 3 times or do a big line by mistake hope this helps Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I vote for the second one only cause the springs look bigger, I dont know a thing about clutches ops: Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

..the first one is not a standard clutch - instead of the normal friction surface all round it has 9 pucks which look to be more of a metallic compound - where they are worn they are shiny like brass or copper or something (doesnt really show up in the pic) I think it must be a custom made pressure plate? I know the second one is a 5 puck clutch and will handle the horses much better than a standard, but I havent really seen anything like the first one and dont know much about them or how they compare? I have both I just dont know which is better to use - I have to give one back when I decide. :x

the first one might be a dual friction clutch, where oneside is full face, and the other side is a 9 puck brass button. the second one, is the one i have, and Jet-6 has. he claims that the car smokes into third, so it must be some pretty kick ass gear. I got mine custom made, with about 4000lb pressure plate. The key is with either clutch plates, you need a **** load of clamping load to make the best use. BOTH hate sliping, and if you slip either one, then it will wear out quicker. the 9puck will endure some streetability, but its all a compromise. the 5 puck, is and will be streetable, but dont go creeping 1 car length in the traffic situation all the time, as it will wear rather thin, quickly. Ive spoken to a few owners of vls that run into the 13s, wtih the usual 'street'mods, and they sware by the 5puck brass button, sprung center cluch, ala clutch 2 in your list. PBR make that 5puck clutch, with a kit. i hope you got a chunky pressureplate, as the stockone will really let the clutch down, maybe even slip it alittle. oh, and i forgot to mention, with either one, if you slip it, you can actually groove into your flywheel, which will generate heaps of friction, wear the clutch, and possibly fracture the semi-metalic-ceramic 'buttons'. option 2 sounds good, but get them both checked out by a GOOD clutch speicalist. they might be undersized....

..yeah I might use the second one - I just wasnt sure about the first one - even though its in better nic. It doesnt look like a dual friction plate as it has the same contact pads on both sides. Yeah I have a heavier duty pressure plate to use with it. Will take them down to my brake bloke and get them both checked out anyhow. Thanks guys.

well, ive been taking my car for a minor cane here and there in its semi completed form, and the 5puck brass button clutch ****ing rocks. All this talk about the clutch not being streetable is BULL****. I find it more streetable than stock. So much so, i thought that i had a ****ed up clutch, so i rang up JET-6 for some advice. I put it in 4th (direct drive) and tried to take off. Didnt do anything but stall it heh. If it did take off or ride a little, then the pressure plate or the clutch had something wrong with it according to JET-6 But in all seriousness, all ive had is a stock clutch, and now this whopper, and you can really really! feel the difference. Feels like theres an extra 20kw gained somewhere. Keep in mind that my stocky was fuxxord to the max though. too much slip! Go the brass button, youll be amazed as to how streetable it is, and how stupid those say "its not streetable" including some performance shops too! [got one trying to sell me a dual friction clutch instead of a brass button, because of the street factor!] Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ill need a new pressure plate/clutch combo soon so i was wondering what the physical differences a few people have noticed when driving in heavy traffic when they have converted from stock to the 5 puck brass button. ie. difficulty in driving at low speeds more willing to stall cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
