Gents,
I've been seriously thinking about putting a stall converter into the auto box on my 3.0L Vl.
My Question is,
Has anyone done this and what sort of improvement did you get out of your box?
I basically want more power off the line but want to keep with the auto box.
Cheers,
Joel.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
your drive line is only as good as its weakest point.
adding a stallie may make things worse , launchin off the lights with a high staller and a povo box wont be too good, id suggest gettin a complete rebuild and shift kitted etc , while its out throw in a higher stall.
why not save ya pennies and do a turbo conversion down the track?
Gents,
Then which is better?
Putting a stall converter on the auto and getting the box strengthened or go for the 5-speed conversion.
Beenleigh Auto Dismantler’s qouted me $1250 for a full conversion however their boxes have only got a 3 months warranty for noise and nothing else. Also are then any inspections you can do to a box before it goes into your car, so as to check if its okay? Or is it just the luck of the draw.
What does every-one think?
Also has any-one stuck a stallie into their box and what difference did you get?
I was also thinking about the turbo option but that idea fell through when I got quotes of between $2500 -$3300 for parts alone. Then add labour on top of this and your talking big bucks. It would be cheaper to buy a standard N/A turbo secondhand.
Joel.
