Hey guys, im picking up a minispool 28spline centre for my vl turbo brand new for 120 bucks - just wondering if it is a straight in and out job - of course after removing the axles? has anyone done it? was it relatively hard? thanks -

I'm in Melb. regularly..... but dont think i really want a locker..... I do heaps of Ks and the LSD might be a better option.

the LSD is always a better option, legal too whare as the mini spool is illegal from what I'm told.

The whole carrier comes out and the mini spool sits inside it, they usually use a worn LSD carrier for the job too. I would pay them to install it as they have the correct tools to lap it in and set it up correctly for you. The spool is the ultimate for both wheel burnouts, but does create damage I run a spool in my Cortina but I find spools a little to harsh for everyday street use, your opinion may differ. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Pull both axles, remove carrier caps (4 bolts) pull head, remove side gears, spider gears and pins. install mini spool and pin, done deal. reinstall carrier, no setting up to be done as long as you keep the left and right shims in the same place. the are good, cheap and tough, but a pain in the ass when doing u-turns on the street.

Petros petros petros.. You asked me for a price from george, and i told you :> And NO, you DO NOT USE a LSD Carrier, you use a Single Wheeler Carrier, the Spool, fits into that perfectly, its rather a sloppy fit in the LSD carrier, and its would rely on the pins to hold it in place properly. If you want it done properly, bring it to us at G & J Gears ... Im Sure WYLD can recommend him as well (Cant ya pabs) :>

However, they are illegal. LSD's are better, not as harsh on your driveline / Suspension componets (namely bushs, which u'd replace more often). And LSD's are safer to drive than Spools.. What most people dont realise in the wet, with a spool, it will understeer... both wheels driving forward, it only wants to go forward, doesnt want to steer. Reason I have a spool? I hate ****ing Changing LSD clutches on a regular bases.. i may invest in a Detriot locker (i have a 9inch, not a Borgwarner, but same thing applies)

I found this really good way to make your clutches and tyres last for ages. Its called NOT SPINNING THE WHEELS! Saves money, drivetrain and tyres. Saved money = more beer Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
