Hey there, i would like some ECU wiring diagrams for either the rb30 turbo or non-turbo, as i might install one of those apexi fancy meters for speed, quarter mile etc.
The wires that i need in particular are:
Ignition Power
Constant Power
RPM Signal
Vehicle Speed Signal Input
Ground
The main conserns are the RPM Signal and the Vehicle Speed Signal Input. Does the rb30 ECU have these functions which are found on just about all imports?
If not, would there be a way to 'hack' the signals from other data and perhaps feed it into the speed meter.
Thanks.
OK.....
Constant power..... straight to battery with a fuse
Ignition power....... tap into the back of the cigy lighter
RPM signal can be taken from a signal wire right behind the coil.....
Ground.... you can work this out
The only one is speed sensor that i am not sure about.... yeah i know its in the back of the speedo, but no sure what sort of signal it is (eg. pulses or volts. most likely pulses)
I dont think the gregory's diagram will help you, as it doesnt go into detail about what the signals are, but yes it does give you wire diagrams
I was looking into this a while ago, Im pretty sure it can be made to work (not 100%) the speedo unit makes a signal and sends it to the ECU and trans computer. You could intercept one of these. Im pretty sure it is a pulsed signal (I can find out if need be) so this should do.
you can download manual from APEXi website
from memory autospeeds online web shop had a pretty good price on these.
thanks for the help.
ok, being a calais i have cruise control. I remember that if the speedo isnt working, then the cruise control doesnt work either, so there must be some sort of electrical interpretation of the mechanical speedo drive, to make the cruise control function.
i check the wiring diagrams and see what i come up with.
Thanks.
go to R31 darhalf (http://home.iprimus.com.au/darkhalf/skyline.html) and go to the diagnostic section, you should be able to find some help there
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
what about a g-tech, they measure 0-100, 1/4 mile, RWHP, and some other stuff, pretty damn accurate and the only wiring is you plug it into your cigarette lighter.

they dont look half as good as the APEXi RS Meter, the Gtech is only a temporary mount kinda thing.
The APEXi RS Meter does have some cool functions/display methods and can also be used to trigger relays etc at preset rpm point (eg shift light)
