Hey guys, I will be in the market for a Walkinshaw in about a years time. I want to start gathering information on the car as of now. Like do you know of any quirks about the car or any troubles? I had one guy tell me that in the initial run of 500 that you can fit 245mm tyres under the guards and the second 250 run you can only fit 225's. I am thinking this is incorrect.
Also how much of the engine is genuine group A? Is the block actually a different one than the VN PFI blocks? Anyway, all help is appreciated.
I have never heard anything about the wheels things.
For the record, walkies came with 205's, not 225s as many people seem to think.
gearboxes are generally pretty weak on modified walkies

Yes generally.... there is one with Sydney that is pretty damn fast still running original box and its daily driven and raced ( don't quote me if its still raced, but it used to be ) I think it was running like 11 second quaters 8)
Keep your shirt on buddy, If you get so touchy when someone mentions Ford, what are you doing in a Holden forum??
I've bought all 3 issues of AMC and i've noticed that there's quite a bit more Ford content than anything else. That's not to say I won't buy it any more....
Midz, yes that is Bob Parkins Walkinshaw, quite an awesome piece of machinery. Now with 600 herbs under the bonnet it should run better then 11's if it can get traction. It stilll has the T5G in the car. It was rebuilt after a part of the driveline broke and the vibration went thorugh the box and shattered it.
I talk to him from time to time about his car because I have the same idea as him, turn the sucker into a race car.
He still races it and uses it as his daily driver. He drives it to and from Type III club racing events. He wipes the floor against fully track prepped and trailered cars. He also runs with a full stereo system in it, even when racing.
Oh yeah this isn't a debate about fords featuring in a magazine, its about the walkinshaw.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
