I was wondering how much fuel a RB30et uses compared to a RB30e. If you have mesured your economy please post it on hear along with any mods your car has, turbo or NA.
I keep a log book and my average economy is usualy between 9.0L and 10.0L per 100 kilometers on standard ULP. (about 75% highway). The best i have had is 8.9 and the worst 14L/100km. I have a 5 speed with a 2.5" exhaust NA.

my old NA 5 spd used to get 8.5l/100 on the H'Way.
The Calais Turbo is a little more hungry..... get about 14l/100 H'Way.
Once i used 50ltrs for 190km around town one weekend...... 8O 8O

Hey guys,
16.5L/100km isn't good is it???
The thing has been serviced its whole life and i don't drive it hard that often.
This is one of the contributing factors to me selling the car... so if anyone wants an N/A VL in pretty good nick let me know... but then on the same hand, anyone with a nice VR or VS Commodore for sale, let me know

16.5l/100 is **** for a NA..... thats H'Way right? If you got that around town it would be OK.

My car gets around 2.5 litres per lap of Pukekohe circuit (the track that the V8 supercars run on here in NZ) circuit length is 2.8km. I have an 80 Litre fuel cell and that gets me about 30 laps, so that makes it roughly 1 litre per km!!

26-07-02, 22:11 GMT+10#10 Hey JetCalais.... the 16.5 was being generous and thats round town.... i live 15km from the City and drive in peak hour traffic to and from work.
Just a question... would a VS Commodore be any better than this??

29-07-02, 16:19 GMT+10#11 My Corsa normally uses around 13L/100km on short city trips etc. Managed Sydney to Melbourne on one tank earlier this year using only 9.3L/100km. Also have done 10.2L/100km from Sydney to Orange and back on a club run with the boost wound up.
Eastern Creek fuel consumption for circuit racing was approx 40L/100km on standard boost.

30-07-02, 01:44 GMT+10#13 The best i'v managed on the highway is 8l/100km, but usually get around 9.5 - 10 /100km. Around town i dont even bother to mesure (could have something to do with a lead foot)
the car is a 5 speed NA, 2.5" exhaust
The car used to run an auto, and i seem to believe that the auto was better on fuel that the 5 speed. any comments on this?

30-07-02, 15:11 GMT+10#14 I get between 12 and 13 litres/100km usually from my NA Auto.
I have done from memory 450k's from a tank...
Also I would have thought the auto would use more fuel than the 5 speed.

30-07-02, 19:55 GMT+10#15 auto should be almost the same.0-5%stop/start kills consumption.
driving style kills a manual fuel economy.you can light foot an auto.
at work ive had people worried that there new VN 5 speed used 35+MPG most of the time.but most got between 22-29 tuned properly.
its very hard to demostrate to a person that there 30+ years of driving is the problem.mums VL and VN 5 speeds returned 10 L/100 tank to tank averages with little sevicing.

The only thing i can put it down to is the 5th gear isn't as tall as 4th in the auto, so sitting on 110km/h the engine is reving a few hundred rpm higher. Even when i'm taking it easy, it still uses as much if not more than the auto used to, in the same car.

05-08-02, 00:04 GMT+10#20 nah, they are even worse than that.
When Wheels tested the SV88 in funnily enough, 1988, it averaged 28L per 100k's on the test drive.
If you're six is returning that sort of economy, something is definitely wrong.
