Ok guys and girls, i have a few questions.... i recently dropped in an RB30ET into my skyline 1. is there a difference between the regulators? 2. i'm using an auto turbo computer to run my 5 spd, will this cause any problems?? 3. it started fine after first dropping it in and ran fine around town, but when i got it on the freeway, the temp crept up, and i think that i've either down a head gasket or head. what do u think would've caused this?? tested thermostat and works fine. I'm thinking possibly the waterpump??? 4. i've got a recoed head to put on anyway, ported and polished with AVO stage 3 cam. What sort of difference will this make with the turbo? 5. how hard is it to replace the rubber hoses connecting the injectors to the fuel rail? 6. with the turbo, doesn't seem to pull over 4-4500 revs. does this seem right? thought that it could have something to do with lack of fuel??? Auto comp?? Fuel reg??? Sorry about all the questions, but your help will be greatly appreciated. Benji

1. yes, there is a difference between the n/a and turbo regulator.. (if thats what your asking) 2. The auto computer will run the manual fine, just not the other way. (auto computers came with 1 or 2 extra instructions, that wont be used if your running a manual). 3. check the thermostat 4. not sure exactly, but should be more power (you'd think anyway) 5. apparently this is a bitch to do as they are on there nice and tight. Good Luck. 6. Lack of fuel would probably get you a bit of pinging, if it isnt pinging, i would be looking elsewhere than fuel. the engine should rev out to redline at the 6200 rpm fuel cut.

a good standard rb30et produces about 145 - 150rwhp. with a cam and 3" exhaust and 6psi i got 180 at the treads at about 4800 - 5000rpm, but the fuel reg was f***d. by crimping the fuel return i got 185. with your head work wou should expect more.

How's the std computer going to like the stage 3 cam and ported head ?

stage 3 cam has worked well so far in mine with the standard computer, but i haven't got a ported head. idle is a bit rough, but there is no hesistation or anything, and the dyno power curve was good.

Thanks for the replies i finished swapping the head last night, i think it was a cracked head (the gasket looked fine). Water pump was fine, the cause of the problem was blocked water galleries around the pots. Ported and polished head is on with the AVO stage 3 cam and also decided to put on the naturally aspirated plembum chamber. Don't really know what difference this has made as yet, idle is a little rougher. Did have this head on my naturally aspirated motor and seemed do give a little more up high. But i've got tapping lifters again. :x Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ring avo and ask how much should be machined of the lifter block to suit the cam (if it hasn't already been done).
