Its not the first time this idea has been toyed with. Just wondering if anyone has put any serious thought into going 4WD with their VLT.
Being a manual VLT, just having a few traction probs at the moment and this thought crossed my mind a few times. Anyone know how much more traction im gunna get with a 4WD setup? Dowsides and tradeoffs? Viable or not?
im no expert, but wouldnt less power be delivered to all 4 wheels, and traction can always be a problem even with 4wd, u just have to do the rite thing.
i have heard it can be done, but is a bit of an arse todo, perhaps modify a few sklyine parts ??
i dont know, i have thought about this myself
a new gearbox would be needed also ??
Been done before and was a feature car in an old issue of Street Machine magazine a guy used just about everything off a GTR Skyline it was AWD and had everything big GTR brakes oil coolers for the diffs and I think he used an Autronic ECU, the VL Calais was silver in colour and had a mild body kit. Unless you did all the work yourself and got hold of a cheap damaged Skyline GTR the costs would make it unworthy of doing the conversion.
I reckon if you want a AWD car then go buy a WRX, GSR or the Skyline GTR that's allso if you have the money too.
