hey guys atm i have a 4:11 lsd diff bolted up (bought like that) and it sounds rather sick, and i was thinking about saving up for a new one. now, i know there have been lots of talk bout minispools and lsd, and i will be going the lsd, but i want a tough lsd that will in time be able to handle a fair amount of power. atm its just a stock 5spd turbo. with ratios, should i get another 4:11, or go for the 3:9's? i do get alot of spin off the line but 3:9's will still spin off the line also, would it be worth getting a 9" diff modified and bolted up, do they take hp away ?? sorry bout all these questions guys also, what shld i do as well, bigger brake n so forth? thing slike that, opinions ppl Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Stick with a Borg Warner and choose your ratio from standard 3.45 to 3.7 or 3.9 I would probably get rid of the 4.11's. Don't go a heavy Ford 9 inch they are not needed not many drag VL's even run a 9 inch. Also don't forget you will have to change your tailshaft to suit the 9 inch and most probably require an engineers report for the conversion as it is not standard. And yes 9 inches do rob a bit of power due to there sheer size and weight all they really are is a truck diff but they are fairly unbreakable with the right aftermarket parts. And try and adapt maybe VT Commodore brakes as the Standard turbo brakes are ****!........

Yeah, don't get a 9". They WILL ruin the handling of your car...all that weight jumping around under the back of your car..you'd have to change brakes and probably springs and shocks, to allow for the greater weight. The Borg Warner diffs in the SKylines came out behind 5.9 litre Valiant V8's, so they are stout..I have tried to break them in Valiants, but old age is the only thing that gets them! The problem with the SKyline diffs is poor quality control for a couple of years at Borg Warner. Get yours rebuilt, and it wil last forever! Regards, Andrew.
