Fella’s, I’ve just noticed that the boot release buton in my glove box of my VL executive is now not working and the boot is remaining down. What usually goes wrong with these buttons and how would I go about fixing it? Cheers, Joel.

I could be your button or ot could be something down the track from it... just take your button out, it unscrews, and rip off the two wires from the back they're on little clips anyway, and just touch them together and see if anything happens, just if it does make your boot open, buy a new button Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

get some one to stand near your boot while its open then press the button in the cabin if they can hear the solenoid move then the electric's are ok eg wiring and button also it could lie in the way your boot is sitting if its too tight the solenoid wont open fully I installed the remote boot release the solenoid is ok and moves when the boot it open when its closed it clicks but wont open some times it works when you put pressure down on it I gave up on it for now sh*t me too much Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I know what you mean hrthound. My boot wont open sometimes, it just clicks and i have to get out, push down on it then push the button again. I think ot just needs adjusting. Also when i was throwing my swag into the boot, it disconnected the wire thet powers the boot light and the popper. I checked the fuses, switch and the solenoid, then i realised the light wasn't working. The plug that was disconnected was just in front of the right side boot hinge.

You can just snip a little bit of the rubber from around the lock mechanism -- sometimes it gets a bit too tight in there when it closes Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

mine was the other way when i got my car .. if i opened it with the key, all was fine, if i opened it with the release, the boot wouldnt stay shut again. Eventually discovered if i jiggled solenoid a bit before shutting the boot itd stay closed. Took to it with WD40 and moving everything around by hand and it now works perfectly again Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
