My VL is lowered and it has started to clunk in the front end as well of late. Someone else told me it was prolly the bearing plates too, anyone else on here bought/changed any recently to solve the problem,if so what did it cost roughly?

Im waiting for you to do it so i can found out what it is, most vls seem to do this, my old ladys pajero does the same thing too. Im keen to find out what it is though coz it used to give me the ****s, i just deal with it now as it still does it after replacing everything in the front end, only thing left un done is the lower control arm bushes

I had this problem recently too. I had the shocks replaced on my Calais (stock) with Monroe GT's all around. Then a knocking noise started in the fornt left. For me it turned out to be that the bolt was working its way loose causing the shock to knock against the housing thingy. Got it retightened and its all good now. ??Hope that helped someone. Might add that the noise was rather constant, over bumps (even very little ones) and cornering. You could push down on the car and make the noise too. Tas

Mike mate, Its the bearing plates... i had the same thing with my VL, and you saw how the suspension looked when the bearing plates went. If they're not broken, check the tyres for wear on the inside of the tyre cos if its worn, then the bearing plates are faulty and the camber will be out. I was quoted $150 per side to replace the bearing plates in a VL and that was new parts minus labour.

You guys are on the money, its the stut tops (bearing plates), they usually go when they are disturbed, ie: when you pull them out.
