This is just something I want to get off my mind... Now VL Turbo's... Did they come out as Turbo's? Or is it an aftermarket thing? I'm just wondering because why do R31 Skyline GTS's use the RB20 yet the VL's use the RB30? I just would've thought that the Skylines would've also used the RB30, hasn't it got more room for more power than the RB20? It's just something that's confusing me a bit... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

vl turbos came out of the factory that way part of the deal when holden bought the motors off nissan was that nissan agreed not to sell any skylines (local only I think) with the RB30 Turbo

RB30DET were sold in japan like brock specials. the deal was that the skyline was non turbo for oz but I have seen nissan dealernetwork newsletter for them for the ser3 in 89-90.but I dont believe this happened.skyline buyers wanted cam/extractors and firm suspenion. turbos had a bad rap as the blow up when towing.or burnt the paint of the bonnet. someone asked about a heat shield for a turbo that bolted to the top of the engine.I thought these were fitted with the heat shield/oil cooler package when you fitted a 1200kg tow bar.

..there was actually an RB30DET?! Are you sure, I've never heard of a factory one, I know the workshops build them in japan as aftermarket high performance (ie drag motors), but I didnt think they were a factory item.

Here's a pic of an RB30DET The RB30DET is a hybrid of the Nissan RB series It is custom made by specalist tuners. This engine can produce 6-800 hp at low revs eg 7500 due to its capacity Info courtesy www.meggala.com Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I've heard it done, but is it easy to have an RB30ET in an R31? Does it fit easily? Any extra mounts needed etc.? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
