Hey I am another VK owner in Melb, I was just wondering what mods there are that could make my 85 six to go like **** off a shovel? so far my car is looking a treat lowered hepas and a set of 18' chromes soon to come and sounding with a 2 1/2 straight through and extractors, but am unsure as to what's next. any help would be appreciated. p.s How fast COULD i end up getting it and what are your suggetions about putting a turbo motor in it. G'day Mat. The turbo option would be your best bet. Is you motor injected or carby?? If it's injected it makes the coversion easier as the efi lines etc are already there. Still, you can pick up an vl turbo motor and box for under $3K. or, you could get an RB25 complete front cut with intercooler, computer, motor box the whole lot for about the same. As far as $ for horsepower, a turbo donk is by far your best bet compared to doing up your 6. Another option is of course efi v6 or v8.

Performance wise you can tweak the six with a high lift cam strengthened pistons and holly carby. should give you bit more go. if you are interested in heaps of horsepower i would suggest going a motor transfer. The Turbo Sixes and commodore V8's are great but I have been very interested to see the Import v8 motors in a Commodore. The nissan infinity and toyota soarer V8's are 200kw 4.0 litre quad cam an excellent basis for a supercharged weopon. You can pick up a front cut V8 and a japnese Supercharger set up for around 3 grand a peice so for 6k or so you are looking at.. a minimum of around 270rear wheel kw. you can go the whole hog and fiddle with intercooler set ups and different lift cams and have an absolute weapon! let me know what you think Cheers Jeremy.
