G'day All,
I know there are a fair few posts out there regarding the calais popup lights, but nothing on what I'm currently experiencing. Get this, when I turn on my high beam lights, the low and high beam lights turn off.
So not only does my high beam lights not work, my driving lights also turn off! Only the accessory lights remain.
But when I turn the high beam lights off, the driving lights come back on. What thf f**k is happening??
Oh, another thing, when I first click of the high beams and hold the switch to the on position, the high beams actually still work. So has anybody out there experienced this kind of problem. I've looked around and cannot find a cause. It's really starting to s**t me.
Please advise if you know anything. Thanks to all who reply.

Id check your switch on the steering coloum.

I had exactly the same problem, soon your low beam will go as well, and you will have to hold the dip switch up constantly to have lights. You need to replace the lights mechanism on the steering column.

This may be a stupid question, but have you checked the fuse? If you have try wiggleing it a bit, this used to fix the lights on my first VL.

i also had a similar prob as bluvlt, it acts the same as a stalk prob, but it turned out to be the high beam fuse. no high beam fuse = high beams only on when you click it back and hold, when you release all headlights go out except for parkers till u click back to low beam.
oh well 8O

Same as the last two boys. Check that fuse! Had it happen to me on a sweeping corner late at night. Scared the living crap out of me when everything went black! It was only a fuse in the end.
Happy hunting.

f**k do I feel like a dumbass. I initially checked the fuse but it appeared okay. I'm pissed cos I only changed the stalk (brand new!) only 9 months ago. Hmmm, perhaps it was the wrong fuse. I'm hoping thats the problem though, the symptoms sound pretty much the same.
Thanks again to all who wrote
Cheers!

Cheers!
Could u let me know if that was the problem as i know someone else who has the same thing, but its not the fuse?

01-11-02, 20:56 GMT+10#14 the box things are relays for your horn, electric aerial etc. the fuse for high beam is fuse No. 2 and for low beam it is fuse No. 1. I'm having a problem which might be related, sometimes when i put the traficator on the horn sounds briefly? not a major prob but just wondering if any of you had any ideas? thanx.

08-11-02, 22:36 GMT+10#15 the number 2 fuse is the one that causes the high beam troubles, my number 2 fuse has melted to into the fuse box, so i'm pretty sure it's broken and is whats causing the problems.
i heard that you can replace fuse boxes ? cause mine getting pretty warped from being next to red hot extractors for so many years
