Anyone here know which V8 they decided on for it? Did they do much to the 6 or is it pretty much the same? I reckon it looks pretty nice, lot slicker than the VX... makes it look bloated and fat. Suppose have to wait for VY... hope it sells or new cars will all be uninspired commos and magnas if Falcon goes down the dunny... ford make holden try.

I saw in a mag there are 2 V8 options, 1 making something like 265kW and the other 225kW? And a turbo 4L in line 6!!! I can't quite remember but i think the big V8 and the turbo 6 are twin cam!! Makes me think abit differently about the old Falcoon Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I dunno bout the engines but the base model will be $35,000.... now who in the right mind would spend $35,000 on a grey Falcoon with nothing special, when for $37,000 you can get an Acclaim Commodore...

i reckon the straight 6 turbo is gonna kill all. i heard it produces 240kw on a detuned restricted engine. whack a chip in, intercool it give it a bit more boost and it will eat most

I reckon the new Falcon looks ok and the new inline turbo 6 engine will be the next generation of VL turbo's they will probably swarm the dragstrips around the countrie, but the price is way to expensive for the average joe, Ford has finally relised they need a new engine to compete with the Gen 3, so Ford are hopeing there new V8 and Turbo inline 6 will acheive this even though we can't all enjoy the power on the roads in Victoria without being nabbed by a "Speed Camera" or the Police. The new V8 I heard is pulled directly from the Ford Lightning Truck which has a factory super charger and is capable of mid 13 second quarter mile times, but I think they ripped the super charger off for the Falcon, who knows maybe Tickford will add the super charger. Either way this will make or break Ford in Australia.

Please! The Gen 3 Holden engine design is just a small block chevy with reverse cooling, new heads and a weird waterpump/distributor setup that leaks and fails a lot in US cars. It is far from new technology. The modular V8 Ford will be fitting is state of the art( probably stil fit the Windsor initially in cheaper cars, to get rid of surplus), and has the ability to be made in a V6 V8 V10 or whatever they want....it is a modular engine, and the design is less than 10 years old. Look to see V6 engines in the Falcon within 5-10 years, based on this engine. Some are twin cam, some single cam, but all have overhead cams. Factory superchargers are fited to this line of engines in the states. Still, I don't think the New Falcon shape is anything special, and on bodyshape alone, it won't get the sales they hope. Remember with the price though, Ford always starts it's new models high..this is so they can sell old models from dealerships...as soom as all the ugly Falcons sell out of their warehouses, the price wil go back down. Ford have been doing this since XA days.... Regards, Andrew.

If the new turbo 6 Falcon performs on the street and strip, i think i'll be up for one and trade the VLT in, can't beat new car comforts and technology. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The front of the BA is so much nicer than that of tha AU, but the rear end is a bit bland in my opinion. And yes you read right, its branded BA, not AV. As for the engines, theres the choice of a quad cam 4.6L V8 which will prolly be fitted to fairmonts, and base model, and povo XR8, there there is a 5.4L which will go into a sick XR8, T series, and GT falcon. Thats all i have heard, then powerplants havent been revealed yet. Then there is a turbo 6, which is a full new design of the ford I6, producing 230kw, intercooled also. It has been tested at 270kw and ran perfectly with no compaliants. And the stock I6 will have 180kw in the base model. As for the asking price, that is very fair considering all the new gadgets you get. Every model gets electronically controlled drivers seats, electronically movable pedals, fully redesigned IRS system (that ****s all over everything else available in australia now, and for a long time) redesigned interior, and a far superior engine to that of which holden are going to supply. If the BA kicks off, holden are going to get there arse reamed in the next year. As for performace, holden do not make anything that will match any of the ford products to be realeased. All cars are run down the production line, and all cars, including XR, T series and rumourd GT will be badged as ford, not tickford as they have been. Which means, the only car holden make to challenge fords cars will be the SS against the GT (best car vs best car) Then HSV can come in and do what they want, but thats a HSV, not a holden. be prepared to see a lot of mean fords coming out soon. Its about time ford got there arses into gear....

hmmmmm.... Sounds exactly like what ford said when they released the EA against the Vn   ..... Then they said the same thing when they released the AU against the VT.....  Now they are telling us the same **** all over again...... ford has alot to answer for... and even if the BA sells anything like the VY... Holden will be releasing its new series of commodores in less than two years.... then ford will have to sit on their asses and wonder what to do again! But I do think that competition is good... or else holden may get lazy.. But seriously a ford turbo six... I cant wait for all those warranty claims to roll in when that notorious Ford reliability kicks in.... ie like an EA falcon Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

CALAISINSA: warranty claims, hahaha! they have spent a long time testing the brand new XR6 turbo donk, a lot of running about in the NT weather, running the car at 270kw, and so far it has been 100% reliable. its a turbo engine, its not an n/a motor with a turbo slapped on. its like an RB30ET, cept its a 4L twin cam turbo monster! will munch a lot of cars out there with the smalled of tweaking. You put a 3" on ur calais and u feel the huge power increase, put a full 3" on the ford, maybe even a 3.5" and it will see 300kw stock internals, full luxuries, IRS, ABS... holden dont have anything to match the 6 cyl market in the VY range. holden bring out a new model every few years coz the old model has so many faults that they need to rectify them all. Anyhow, enuff ford/holden bashing. I cant ****en wait to test drive one of these beauties. 87CALAIS: tickford is still involved, they just wont be badging the cars as a tickford from what i understand. They might have a tickford plaque, and an indivdual tickford build number placed in engine bay with a list of ticked options (like they do now) but otherwise not more wings to be put on the car

South: Updating is being innovative.... besides the "A" range falcon lasted long didn't it despite all what is said the fact remains is that Ford has got its ass kicked for over a decade now... and I don't have to tell ya why... So therefore everyone (both ford and holden fans) has the right to be very sceptical about ford releasing a new model... but goodluck to you if it is all that.... it sounds good.... but I'll wait till its out to judge it!! Although the gen 3 is turning out to be a hunk of ****..... rebuilds under warranty are very common... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

holden wernt always market leaders. Keep that in mind. Ford are trying to regain the initiative and I don't think they could have done more. If that turbo is all they say it is, it sure will put meaning back into "Built Ford Tuf"!

You're right..I stil thing Ford could have done more with the styling....remember, if this one flops, Ford Australia wil be wound up. They have been losing $80 million a year with the AU ****box, so it's make or break time. I'd still buy a Magna, and always wonder about the decision! Regards, Andrew.

erm, who told you that ford aus will be wound up if the BA flops? they invested $500 million into the R7 car (the orange car released earlier this year), that will be production in the not to distant future, and also the 4x4 falcon to be released shortly also. Why would geoff polites invest all that money into vehicle production if he knew that ford aus will be shut down if BA fails. That is one stupid comment. But alas if ford does close doors, holdens now poor quality will go ever poorer, probably turn into a FWD car, and will see a tiny engine to power it. without the competition of ford, holden will flop also. Dont forget, all we have seen of the BA is the outside shape of a base falcon, and a ghia, we havent seen any of the performance vehicles yet. anyhow, make up your own mind, im not here to inforce anything on anyone

Hmm..I dunno..maybe it was because it was in all the national papers a few months ago..and Ford US is seriously looking at pulling out of Australia if sales flop. Just because programs are still being worked on, doesn't mean the whole lot can't be pulled....you have to keep people busy. Ford Australia does what head office tells them, if the bean counters say shut up shop you are losing too much money still, it happens. Ford Australia haven't turned a profit in 3 years....Holden already have a front drive Commodore planned(Buick drivetrain, same V6), and that WILL see production eventually.it's cheaper to make. Mitsubishi will stil be here to keep Holden honest. You don't know if that's the shape of the base model Falcon..remember when the E series Falcons were released? All the prototype and press cars were the XR shapes..common trick. Ford did this with the AU as well, showed everyone base model cars with XR fronts and rear bumpers..and when that dog ugly base model came out, everyone ran. I'll ignore your stupid comment statement, you clearly don;t know all the facts. Regards, Andrew.

Sorry mister i know it all. I will just be quiet now, im not worthy to post when your talking, coz you rock man, no really, you do. That is exactly what the base model falcon will look like. What was released is 100% identical to the base model falcon that will be released in the upcomming months. I am a member of fordforums, of which Geoff Polites (do you even know who that is) is a member. He communicates on that forum quiet often, and onlooks most, if not all threads on the forum. He has confirmed that is the next model falcon to be released, and that it is the base model, no longer known as forte. The performance models have no been released to press so as they can have more excitement built by ford fans, owners, and the general public. Ford have a website where they have slowly released information, and a few teasers images so that people can see whats going into the next model. So i think YOU should be the one to get all your facts right before you open your mouth again. End of story.

Do you really KNOW who you are talking to on a forum? No. Do you think Geoff whoever wants to sell you cars? Of course he does. Do car manufacturers lie? Of course they do. Do you know anything about Ford Australia being in trouble? Of course you don't. End of story.
