Have a problem with the Boot Release Button in the glove box of my Vl. It seems to be connected with the clips on the back but still doesnt release the boot. Anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem???

most likely the switch has seen better days. go to Rack A Part and just pocket a switch and slap it in Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Is the boot release motor working in the boot? Checked fuses/relays?

I had that prob, move the solonoid bar in and out a couple times near the boot latch, check fuse(i think its the one on the bottom on the side, 7.5A or something).

I'm sure the fuse is sweet, ive checked that ! Morgz85 - I'll give the solonoid bar a go and see if that changes anything. Girl Torque - Now that you mention it, the motor may have even been removed. Probably a stupid question but where would i be looking for the motor if it was still there??? I remember the guy I bought the car from saying he had removed somthing to stop the boot opening because he had a lot of audio equipment in there.

From what I can remember - it's situated pretty much behind the lock and within the boot structure - it's about 7 cm long (?) and it's a cylinder pretty much - think there were 2 brackets holding it on from what I can remember.. may just be the wiring to it also (my motor spat it one day - over heated and reeked out the car - blergh!)

Don't know if this will help but when i got my stereo installed the installer said that the reason my release wasn't working was that there was no power coming from the constant power supply, or something like that. He said all that needed to be done to fix it was to run another wire, and it would work again.

Ok, from what i can see it may be that there is no power running to the button and/or motor how can i work out who get to the power going to it ??

find out weather the power lead to the motor is a constant supply one.. which it most probably is.. cause u can press the button and release the boot even when the cars not goin.. so just tap a new long piece of wire into a wire in the dash that has constant supply and run it under the carpet. through the bak seat but.. jsut tape it around the original loom in the boot and hook it up to the boot release motor... if that doesnt fix it.. then who knows what will.. maybe a new solenoid or motor itself ?

hehe my boot release didnt work, then i put a bit of crc on the thing in the boot which actually unlocks it, and it worked like a charm )

when you press the button inside the glove box, can you hear a noise coming from the boot like its trying to open? when you push the button get a mate to push down on the boot. maybe she will open then.

There is no noise when i press the button, thats whats making me think it could be a power issue, will have to look into getting the power to the button and/or motor !
