would a VS commodore 4 wheel disc brake setup be better than a VL turbo brake setup? If so what are the comparisons and differences in these setups thanks

Stick with the turbo brakes..... VS ones are ****house!

VS Discs are 289mm diameter, VL Turbo discs are 290mm so 1mm diff, basically nothing. Not sure about the calipers, that would be your only reason to switch if the calipers were better.
Interestingly though the VS discs are 1mm thicker but have the same minimum thickness as the VLT discs - so you get 1mm of extra machining out of them before you have to turf them.
Both models use the same rear discs I believe.

the rear calipers are finned which may be a slight bonus over turbo ones. and im pretty sure they will bolt up , if not vn/p ones are finned too , they go straight on.

VL turbo is 1inch, VS is 15/16ths. Man if they are VS V6 brakes I think you'll find that the rears are the same as atmo VL discs. The turbo vl rear discs are larger with a similar caliper. If their VS V8 will the front calipers are exactly the same and the discs are actually smaller but not by much. The rears on a V8 VS are NOT finned even on HSVs. I'm not sure where you got that info from... ?? Well the one parked outside my house isn't (VS II Clubby). Just go turbo they will bolt on, you'll need to make up something to get the hub to fit onto VS discs.

Rear VL turbo disks and calipers are exactly the same as n/a vl calais, use VT front brakes, the kit is only $690 and they are fantastic and twin spot.
