Can a VS or a later model Commodore Key barrel and door locks be placed into a VL? or would the whole steering column fit? *just a thought

I've been thinking of doing this also. The door, boot and glovebox locks should all be straight foward, but the ignition is the one i'm worried about. Is it possible to remove the barrel from the vs ignition and putting it in the vl's? or would you have to change the complete ignition switch, that would be a hassel? Keep us informed if you do go ahead with it.

Im just finding out for future reference on if it was possible. i personally think it would make a VL harder to get into, in terms of keys, as anything can unlock the doors

I think you'd have to get the entire alarm system from the vr and put it all into the vl for that to work.

I would say it would be a fairly hard process, noticed that little silver bit on the VR-VZ keys? That needs to make contact with the metal strip on the ignition barrel for the car to start. To transfer that across would take a fair amount of work, I would think. Probably better off spending the money on a decent alarm, because the smart locks in the VRs onwards help stop kids breaking into your car, but they can still be pretty easily bypassed.
