Fella’s, Are these yellow VLs had to find or are they as common as any other VL. Also was all the yellow non-turbo VLs issued only to police or were they also sold to the general public? Joel.

Didn't the Police get the Yellow BT1 Police packs for their persuit cars? All with turbos? I thought so anyway.

for joel, i don't think all the yellow non-turbo VLs were the owned by the cops. the car manual for my car says it was originally a QLD telecom car. i've only ever seen one yellow non-turbo sedan. (im no expert ok, but) i think the ex-interceptor/pursuit VLs were turbo's as well as the V8s. also im guessing that all these ex-pursuit cars were all marked. when de-comissioned by the cops they were painted either white or yellow.

Nope, when decomissioned, they werent sprayed, mines still got factory paint and u can stills see where the paints faded due to the numbers on the roof, POLICE on the bonnet etc. Dont quote me on this, but as i know of it, different states had different colors... Yellow Turbo- Vic White Turbo- Vic/Nsw Yellow 5L- QLD (Due to the climate, 5L's were better suited) Burgandy Turbo- SA Blue Turbo- WA THats just off the top of my head so i aint 100% bout em, along with the fact that detectives etc, had unmarked vl's of all colors.. hope it helpz,

Fella's Well i've also got a non-turbo 86 yellow sedan in original condition. It came with factory tow bar, sun shade and these crome door handle protectors that sit below the door handle and protect the paint from being scratched when opening the door. Do all yellow VL's come with these different handles or was it just for the series 1 and then later scrapped when the series 2 was released. Also is their any-way you can find out from holden what you car was originally used for. (Ex-police or Government) Cheers, JR

I think you'll find that there are yellow VL's, and Absynth yellow VL's. I dont think I have ever seen an Absynth Yellow VL that wasn't an Interceptor. Could be wrong though. Someone could look into it maybe. If anyone is wondering what the different is, Absynth has a green hue through it, you can really see it at night under flouros, ie, at a service station. cheerz morepsi

Gents, Well i dont think it is a taxi as it has only done 117,000km and all the interior is immaculate, especially the seats, also the front speakers in the dash are still perfect and has still got the originally brown pin striping down the sides of the car. Maybe it was an ex-telecom car like that previous post. I'll check the name plate inside the engine bay tonight and see what colour Holden badged it with. Cheers, JR.

Furthermore, The Colour Code on the cars name plate is COLOUR:1D111-D. What ever that means?

Nah..its not a taxi. Theres no visible signs on the exterior and interior that it was a taxi. All the instrument knobs and indicators switches are not tarnished and look brand new. When I brought it the motor had cobwebs in it and their was a wasp nest in the air-box. It has only had two previous owners and the last owner used it to tow his boat every month and it sat in his garage for the remainder of the time. I'm going to contact Department of Transport in Queensland and see if they can do a background search for me. JR.

ive looked at a couple of those factory paint guides for all the models of cars, that are at like spray-can stands. when i look up 'holden/commodore 86-88' theres no listing of any yellow colours. there IS a listing for the absynth yellow mentioned though, but if i can remember they list it as a factory colour of sum 70's/early 80's holdens (?) .... so i dunnno  and i need a can of paint too :? ! lol, and im not sure about this taxi-talk. cos its going back now, but i think in VIC at least, wasn't the taxi colour changed from white to yellow in the early 90's. ie. after the VLs. imagine a 1 000 000+km ride! friggin hardcore VL that'd be
