I use the bosch 036 Injectors, they fit on the std rail. They are rated at 380cc if I remember correctly. But I use a Motec, so I dont know how they would work with a std computer if thats what you are asking. no problems to date. I run them at 4 bar pressure + boost and they run at 77% duty cycle max (455FWHP @ 19psi). I think they cost $160 each.
There are a few Bosh injectors that will fit. You can run 036's if you have an aftermarket chip that has been modified for it with your stock ECU. Or if you have an aftermerket ECU. If you try and run usually any bigger injector with a totally stock ECU and chip, it will flood the **** out of it!
vlto6 - You are exactly right any bigger in the injector with a standard ECU and all you will end up doing is flooding the bitch, I personally would'nt bother unless you are running some sort of aftermarket ECU.
When you run bigger injectors one thing to remember is what ohm. they run at as some aftermrket computers will only run injectors that run a certain ohm. like link for example will only run injectors that are no higher than 2 ohm. In VL's the best are 036which are 90hp each or 336 which are 120hp each or you can use 13B turbo injectors with a little mod but they need to be tuned very well as they are a rough injector.
okay, so i put some after market injectors in, was all ready to get bosch ones for 176 each when they said they had no stock
guy at petroject said he recommends these "RAM" ones from america, standard size, 110 each, said they work perfectly
didnt wanna wait for them to get bosch ones in stock cause the mofo of a miss was pissin me off
got me gasket and seals, took the plenum and rail off, put the 6 new "RAM" injectors in.
started the car up after about 4hrs of ****ing around...flooding like you would not belive....like the injectors werent closing or summin. hard to start, blowin fuel out the exhaust practically- not even burnt fuel just white misty ****.
am getting a fuel inj guy i know to look at it tomorrow
any ideas guys? :?:
didnt even take it for a drive, woulda used half a tank going round the block!
you cant use different injectors in a VL without making modifications to the standard ECU by way of writing a chip to suit, or by fitting an aftermarket ECU.
This has been said many many times.
Change the injectors, and you need to change the comp in some way.
There is no "plug and play" replacement injectors for the VL as far as I am aware.
There are injectors that will fit the hose tail arrangement, but they wont run properly.
If you could do that, why would people bother fitting extra injectors?
ZoSo,
Got any flow specs on them 'RAM' injectors? Any other details about them?
Let us know how you go with the injector specialist, sounds like the ECU needs reprogramming to run the bigger injectors like morepsi said.
