Unfortuneately my gearbox finally gave way yesterday and desperately need to get it goin before next week. Hopefully nothing too major has gone wrong (as there is no grinding noises i just cant select gears) ie gears, input shafts are hopefully ok etc.... I'm going to rip it out over the next few days so what is the best alternative to do: 1/. Rebuild my box with strengthened bearings and snycros 2/. Just rebuild it back to standard 3/. Source an aftermarket jap box eg supra etc Could i please have some opinions as i need my car back badly to travel. I could prob spend around $700-800 so what are some prices on the above options? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated ASAP.... Cheers, Rob

if it's not going into gear it might be just ur pressure plate has given way. can it select while the car is off???

..to fit a Supra box you will have to get an adaptor plate/bellhousing which will use up around half your budget already before even buying a gearbox. Your probably better off sticking with your MX7?

Be more specific when you say you cant select gears. Can you select gears when the car is turned off, but cant when it is running? Can you get reverse? Can you get first but aren't getting any drive? This might sound rediculous, but 2 days after having my thrust bearing replaced, I just couldn't get a gear when the car was idling. They had forgotten to top up the clutch fluid, and there was air in the line. You might want to check that before ripping the gearbox out. cheerz morepsi
