Hey guys, Lately, my N/A has been squeeling the fan belt and was wondering if this a sign of a dying alternator. The other thing is, its chewing batteries something shocking. In 4 days, its flattened 2 batteries and thats without the stereo running. If it is the alternator, how much am i looking at for a new/used one? Thanks guys.

check the voltage when the car is running.... rev it up to about 2000rpm and its should be around 14.4volts. If not it may just be the regulator and the belt my just be loose. Check this out before replacing anything.

if its squeeling then it may be the bush inside alternator , therefore alternator isnt working up to scratch and flattening ya batts

if it squeels for 10 seconds or so and then goes, the fan belt is just loose. Has it been getting progressively worse??? check the belt to ensure its not worn or frayed, then tighten it using a power bar to lever it along the sliding bar, and tighten it with a spanner.

Yeah its been doin it for a while... I just put up with it cos it only usually lasted a couple of seconds... now i can make it like 7 or 8 blocks and its still goin.... The recomended slack for the belt is 4 - 6 mm with 10kg pressure right? I'll give it a go...
