Hey G'day, I have an 86 Calais, the remotes for the central locking don't work, i've had it to two Auto Electricians and they both said the central unit in the car behind the glovebox has had it and there's a 1 year waiting list before i can get a new one. Do you guys have any ideas of where i could pick one up like a Car Security shop or anything? Also any of you guys recommend someone to fit an immobiliser and an alarm to my car? Thanks Adam

if u get a good alarm these days its both an alarm / immobiliser in one. spend ~$400.. no point spending close to that on the ****ty factory alarm! Most will also come with a keyless entry keyring.. the motors are in ur doors already, so they'll just wire it up. But neither of my factory keyrings were working either.. took it to the cobra alarm dealer (manufacturer of factory alarm) in Perth, and they opened it up, and twiddled the screw peice inside while holding the button down until the car responded. U sure these auto sparkies aren't trying to sell u something??! but get an immobiliser either way.

Yeh get a new system. The old original one is a voltage drop system that is so old that fossils of them are being uncovered. 8)
