Howdy - I am considering buying a Vl rb20det in Perth. I was really considering it until I called SGIO Insurance that currently handle my insurance of my na Vl and they said they would not insure the RB20 coz its too modified and it would be difficult to get parts for it if I had an accident. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that insure modified cars and if so, do you know pricing per year? cheers ps. she said that it has nothing to do with my age, its purely the fact that the cars highly modified. tah

ring just cars insurance on 131326. Only problem with them is it doesn't matter what rating your were on you start with a rating 6. I got quote 1,700 for my vl calais with a rb25det. they said I could mod it as much as I wanted as long as it was legal and they knew of every mod. Keep in mind I'm younger than 25 too. They said the car could only be valued at what a VL turbo is worth eve nthough i would have spent more money on it. So my value was 9,500 meaning if I wrote it off they gave me only 9,500. However this value goes up with mods. there are other out there but you'll pay for it. Ty a broker. I know a guy who's got his XD sedan insured for 40 grand through a broker but believe me he's paying for it.

Bloody insurance, its a killer for a new driver!! Its not worth comprehensive unless u total your car and theres nothing left.... Otherwise, after the $1000 excess they charge you for making a claim, for most incidents it isnt worth it... Im gonna have to insure my car soon (when i get it :P ), what do u guys reccomend? fork out the $2700 for comprehensive or just go with 3rd party and hope i dont **** it up... seems like a tough call....

Think about this Walky: If you only have 3rd party insurance and you run into a BMW for example you are up for a lot of money for repairs.....go full cover. It will get cheaper after a year or so.

2fardown that is incorrect if you do not have any insurance, you will have to pay for damage to both cars. however assuming you're driving a registered car, it will cover and persona damage you cause. if you have 3rd party then it will cover that BMW u just smashed up, however it won't fix your car. If you have full comp it will cover both cars.

..if you take out a loan to buy a car I think your required to have full comp insurance to cover your arse if you write it off. Shannons are good, I've got full comp on my EH for $6000 + $3000 for the wheels, any mods as long as its legal. I'm paying about $500 a year - gets debited from my bank account monthly ($40 something a month). They actually prefer to see mods like brake upgrades etc coz they are safety enhancements - unlike those other insurance pricks who think that factory spec cant be improved upon  Shannons also allows you to insure at reduced rate if you state that its your second car and you only drive the car on weekends etc.

just cars seems to be the best, i checked out alot of insurance companies and just cars seemed to be the one that didnt really care what u done to ur car, where as most of the others have too many restrictions

..hmmm maybe depends on how much you borrow and who you borrow from. I was looking at borrowing around $20000 to buy a WRX and I was required to have full comp insurance for this. Wasn't prepared to pay that much for insurance so decided I'd make the EH faster than a wrex instead

I'm paying $1135 per year on full comprehensive on a Turbo VL Commodore Exec. from the RACV, which is less than the $1250 I would have been paying for an N/A. How the **** does that work? (P.S. I'm 17, going on 18 for P's).
