**** man, thats got to suck. How did you get done? JETWPN, who runs 12s in a manual, took everything off i belive. Check the site for his mods. What mods do you have on your car, and how did you get busted? Interested to know as i was thinking of having a worked calais on the street, but this EPA thing is a little scarey, wiht some people constantly getting requested to EPA their car.

I would highly recommend takeing all the modified **** off your car such as blow off valves, intercoolers, aftermarket plenums, aftermarket ecu, aftermarket air filters that contain oil, gutted cat and catch can. If you have these mod's I advise you to remove them and go back to the factory parts If you go ahead with the test, The EPA are not as stupid as most people think they are and they will find the little things that affect the emissions and noise of the car. There is a little loop hole that VicRoads and the EPA have'nt got to fixing yet and that is if your car is to modified and you know it won't pass the test or can't be ****ed takeing all the modified **** off, then cancel your vechicle registration and re-register it under a new registration sure you have to go through a full R.W.C again but it works out alot cheaper and there are lots of "Dodgey" mechanic workshops that will do "Dodgey" roadworthy's sometimes they don't even look at the car just take your details and you hand over the cash, instant R.W.C no hassles. Once you cancel your registration phone up or write a letter to the EPA as they generally want proof the vechile is now de-registed and there is not a thing they can do you don't have to submit your car to the EPA for testing, give it a week or 2 and re- register your car sure VicRoads inspect your car for chassis numbers and engine numbers but most of the VicRoads people I 've delt with have been female and they have'nt got a clue about what they are doing I generally show them the numbers on the car to keep them happy, Although I say it could present problems if you have "Personalised Number Plates", this has worked for a mate of mine and I guess it is up to you on what you want to do as the EPA are ****s and there are big fines if you don't attend the test or fail the test. Good Luck. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Is that just in vic or everywhere??? That **** is ****in wrong they shouldn't be able to do that especialy when you have to take days of work 4 it, and if so u should be reinburst. **** me next they will be asking you to pay to get the test done Should bring it up around election time, dirty dogs or go past and smash there windows untill they stop it the latter should be more effective

EPA's... geez where 2 start, owning a yellow vl really has its disadvantage here, coppers see em, and they expect big mods, coz they know its turbo, theres no sleeper here. Ive had the car a few months and been epa'd for most of the time, and have failed. The theory on cancelling reg does work, if u do it straight away b4 any paper work/files are made on the car. Otherwise its all about luck, u might take your car there, and get tested by a guy who really dosent care, a mate of mine went with aftermarket ecu and cooler hanging off the front, and passed, whereas i get ****ed for having my boost guage connected and the exhaust tester flickering on 91dB. If ur tested down at 'the pits' your pretty much ****ed, however the guys at the other test buildings pretty much have no clue. The guys took photos of my engine bay, and were carrying on about my pop-up valve having 'too much play in it'. The guys there arent extremely smart engine-work wise, however do know the deal with emissions. They resort back to manuals to check hoses etc, and really just have too much spare time on their hands. The best thing to do is to resort back to standard, this means everything out, even taking out the line for your boost gauage lol, as i found out. And then just sit back and smile as they try 2 find something 2 **** ya for. Dont forget to check mixtures, and try to lean out ur car as much as possible, and check your cat, to avoid the big fines for having it gutted or piped. The **** thing about all this, is you can pass your epa test, go home and slap all ur bolt ons on again, and then cop another one the next day, really is a drainer and totally unfair! Anywayz, i think ive shared my 2 cents, hope this helps! Cheerz

Guys if your car is modded bigtime I suggest you get an engineers report, as this covers emissons and chassis mods, and most likely if you ask the EPA about it I believe you only have to fax a copy of your report to them and the pass it, otherwise just cancel your rego and re register your car, becuase EPA only have your rego on file I believe, so with a new rego its classified as another car to the epa, but EPA will suspend your rego after sometime if you dont report to them. Bro if you wont do any of these applications well put your car back to stock and hope for the best, because they will fine you if the emissions dont match regulations.. Regards. Ray.

My Boyfriend got some vague EPA notice, we fought it and won! Living in Geelong, they wanted his car on a certain day and time in Melbourne, we wrote and said i don't think so! On the back of the letter was EPA legislation, check it out if you get a notice! Section 55A states that vehicle must not be required to travel more than 50 kilometres from registered address! So keep this in mind! We got a letter back saying the EPA request had been cancelled, and they haven't even hassled us like we thought they would! Most people that got EPA'd got them at SpringNats, it took until February 19th to get the actual notice! It didn't even say where we got seen, so argued that point too! So if you think you are right, Argue the point! Also, once we got a canary, let the rego get suspended, got a new roadie, went to lift the suspension and they didn't wanna see the car at all! You can't exactly drive it there, suspension notice says you can't drive the car at all! Try anything you can........

Darkstar: Im from Melb dude, Northern suburbs, and im talking bout those ****s at the McLeod testing station. Ive failed a couple times there 4 really stupid things, and then have passed for the exact opposite, making up really stupid stories. Seriously, when u take ur car to an EPA testing without a wastegate, would u expect to pass? lolll, its all bout luck, sometimes theyll b brief and quickly look at your engine bay, missing everything, and then sometimes theyll b really picky about 1 little thing. EPA's suck..

cool yellow chaser, im from melbourne too. What happens if you fail? BIG FINE??!?! EPA sucks big hairy salami ****. Next thing you know, you fart somewhere public, and they will ask you to do an epa check to see what you ate.. arguing that your farts have to be in 'epa regulations'. Heh, ill give htem a choc-nose to worry about thats for sure Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yer usually the first time they'll let u off without a fine if u make up a good enough story, and theyll slap a sticker on it, and uve got a month to re-book it. AFter that they start handing out fines, cancelling reg, etc,

hey guys, good old EPA ay, been done twice, 1st time was pulled over on chapel, had to take all da mods off, took it into altona station, guy spent like 5 mins on it, hardly checked anything, did a noise test and i was on my way, 2nd time, got pulled over by a TMU officer on western ring rd (who mind u was only there with the speed gun to catch ppl speeding which i wasnt) and he had my open my engine bay up and he started doing his stuff, he knew wat he was on about and he went and got an EPA paper and started filling i out, and even after 5 mins of pleading with him to give me watever he wanted as long as he doesnt gimme an EPA notice, he didnt give 2 hoots, recived the notice a week later, well, took all the stuff off again, went in to macleod, but this time they chekced everything from head to toe, they didnt leave 1 hose unturned, failed it that time, then took it into a proper mechanic and he fixed it all up, hoses, mixtures etc and took it in then, again they checked it all, got it cleared which was cool, but there were 4 TMU officers there at the time (there was a bbq outside the office section) and whislt they were there, they decided to give the car a run down also, (1 of em was the guy that pulled me over on da western ring rd) anyways, i had my EPA cleared, but came out with a canary for the obvious, TOO LOW, LOOSE SEAT, HORN NOT WORKING...... so it is a hassle, i recomend u take everything off just for piece of mind, they can do as they pls, they have a lot of power, he un-suspended my reg in like 10 secs on his computer, so he can do some good stuff from his office, its all at ghis finger tips and yes, it is a yellow VL and they r pretty easy targets for em BTW, 500 dollar fine accompanied both notices i recieved
