heyers my vl's suspension is dead so for the first time im gonna have to get new stuff, since i aint eva done it before i know nothing about it, was wondering if people could post their set ups and a rough price of how much it should cost, apparently koni adjustables are good, if i knew what they were and did i might get em

i got pedders in mine, but i don't know what it all is becoz it waz there when i bought it. but everyone who jumps in my car can't believe how good it handles and they all say they didn't think a commo could handle that good. make sure to get shorten shockers, and just go to suspenion joints and ask there opinons they r the experts

i got a whiteline works kit in mine (50mm lowered). the kit comes with evrything- strut inserts, shocks, springs, new radius rods, swaybars (front is adjustable), adjustable panhard rod, bushes. I also used a K-Mac camber/castor kit. All up it cost about $1400 and i fitted it myself. It was worth evry cent, feels like a totally different car!. Handles awesome. It is firmer than standard but still rides really good.

Depends on your budget.. go for a set of king springs, and koni adjustable shocks.. that is a common setup in VLs and seems to work really well. I went cheapoish on my VL and went the Monroes, with Compressed stock springs, but it was still an awesome setup, and handled just as well as one with a more expensive setup. I also guess it coems down to who does it for you, whether they know what they are doing. - ex

I've got the same as 87calais and it really does work great esp. if you have got some good rubber on your rims. It handles like it is on rails and I have got to the stage that I can through the car into a corner and put the pedal down a lot earlier than most and drive out of it with total control. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I problery spent a little too much. I got pedders to replace everything to do with the suspension which cost me $2500 8O . I got a safty check done before hand which cost my $14 and pedders did it. The car was unsafe and it shouldn't have been on the road so thats why i had to spend so much money. Anyway get a safty check done before hand. I'm really happy with the car now except for clearences. The car turns in really hard and sharp now and is very hard on the road. Pedders took a day to instal the suspension and i havn't had any problems with it.

Ive got Pedders all around on mine with KMAC strut tops. I have to say it handles great, but fark me... its so hard, especially the front. I got all the Sports Ryder gear and the front is hard as, i think next time i will get the "Comfort Gas" shocks they offer instead. The back is good, relatively soft plenty of movement but the front 8O , well its probally not that bad, but it is certainly a sports ride and you feel every bump in the road. Ive actually gone and quered them about it and they said that with the Sports Ryder Shocks it will make it very firm. If you run 17" wheels or bigger with thin rubber i really wouldnt recommend the sports ryder shocks on the front, illd get the comfort gas shocks, which are available to suit lowered springs as well. Dont wanna buckle those rims. Mick

I run Kings superlow springs but had them reset another 1inch lower. Shocks are Koni adjustables. Swaybars by Whiteline. Whiteline on car adjustable panhard rod. Mix of rubber and nolethane bushes. Braced Control arms front and rear. I run Pedders top strut caps but the towers have been redrilled to suit the suspension. I have had KMAC and had nothing but trouble from them.(bearings failing, rubber de-laminating) Handles awsome like sh!t to a blankit.

PRO VL- how low are the Super low King Springs? Im thinking of getting a set for my VL but i dont know whether i need Low or Super low! Do you have any pics of your car that you could post to show its ride height? And how hard is the ride over bumps with the King Springs and Koni shocks? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

just brought pedders shocks and springs and adj pan rod. got it cheap for 750, but retails at about 1300 i think??? also got 30mm front sway bar and 24mm rear. kings are probably your best bet. monroe shocks are cheap, but are crap. go with konis if you can afford them, or maybe pedders for a bit cheaper.

i got mine back thisarvo with KYB shocks and kings low springs. its not scraping its arse but i like it like this, plus less crap from ossifers and more $ in my pocket... Went with KYB 'touring' sport, i.e. 'comfort' - not the stiffest.. but its still firm. handles great, but havent got panhard or swaybars yet. mate used to have monroe and kings super low, but it was kinda uncomfortable in comparison. went to Wilkinsons in Bayswater - the blokes who did 'KEEN AS' (the walky). It rocked up as i arrived to get my car, getting another complete fitout with koni etc. apparently.

You got ripped off  I got a set of Pedders sports ryders and vrd for $550, supply, $890 fitted. Nolathane castor/camber kits, at the lovely price of $50, in the packet. I fitted them myself. **** of a job when the ball joint wont play. A month later I went back to pedders and got a adjustable panhard rod fitted, with a 4 wheel computer align for$200(and a keyring & stickers).Well worth th panhard rod. Handles heaps good now, hope i'ts better with my next lot of money donations to the old girl. The cal is 15 this month. I gave it a turbo 5speed engine for i'ts birthday. It loves it too. so do I. Gunna throw some sway bars and strut brace in soon.

boosted cal, how did you get that price??? all the pedders shops over here wanted at least $1000 for the sports ryder struts, shocks, 4 coils and adj pan rod, supply only. a friend that just started at pedders got me this deal, maybe not the best deal then???? i haven't fitted it yet, but it should handle like a dream hopefully with the sway bars in it.
