What sort of amps are you using? Have you got any filters running on your amp? You'll need a Low pass filter to really get it cranking (there should be a switch for it on your amp)

also if ur pulling cd's burnt from mp3 format they wont thump as hard as cd's u buy from the shop becoz mp3 cuts out most of the bass u feela nd don't hear that's why they r smaller in mb size

the sub is running off a 4 channel BOSS amp rated at 4 x 200watts
and i have it briged off 2 channels so should be recieving around 400 watts of power.
yeah it has a low pass filter and super bass button which is set to 12db
umm yeah i do use burt cds from mp3s so yea that could be 1 of the problems
thanks for the help

just to wander off topic, im about to buy the same amp to power jbl splits and 2 12" 150w subs, how does the amp run and is it worth the money?

hey yeah its an ok amp for the price u cant complain
i dont think it will power the splits and the subs
it will work well if u run the 2 subs off the BOSS amp briged
but it also depends which BOSS amp u but mine is the one that is all crome and has the built in fan

boss audio fellas isnt really a good brand..... if u want quality go for an alpine, eclipse, clarion, rockford or even fusion amp.... even sony and pioneer are good...dont waste the money on cheap stuff..... coz in the end it isnt really worth it.... fair enuf the amps may be alright.... but i run an alpine 2 channel amp into my 2 boston 12" pro acoustic subs and i burn cds from mp3 format and i feel every song.... ask the brissy boys... it goes hard....
u may find cheap stuff but in the end its worth payin more for better quality... same in a car... u buy cheap u may have to fix a lot of things, its better off payn more for the security really.....
thats my 2 cents anyway....

have you got the channel for the sub , producing low feq range , there should be a knob where you can select low pass or high pass , use low pass for ya sub. id suggest runnin the 4's off the h/u ,and then the rear fills off the amp.
also a little trick (probably non roadworthy) is to cut the metal from behind the seat (thers a triangle sort of shape allready there , just cut along its lines) and also rip a portion of the backrest seat foam out. these really make a noticeable difference.
ps where is ur sub positioned (in or out facing) and is ur box rated to the size specs of that sub.

my sub is facing the back seat but i cant get right up there cause the box wont fit.
and yeah the box is not to specifications it was just a cheap box
i cant cut the metal piece cause the amp is mounted to that

07-07-02, 20:30 GMT+10#10 i fitted my 2 12" behind my seat. it waz a tight fit but it went it perfect. u have to make the box urself if u want it behind ur rear seat. if u want some pics of my box email me at [email removed] and ill send some pics, my box is a big sealed one with 2 x 1.37cubic foot enclosers in one

25-07-02, 16:32 GMT+10#11 Guys do not face you sub backwards!!! This only works if you have something to bounce the sound off and into the cabin. So pretty much this only works in hatchback. As for power. try redesigning your box with ports with your box facing fowards with two three inch ports facing upwards and going through your parcel shelf. the reason why other people have bass in the cabin is because they're running higher powered subs. VLs have crap boots as the bass is all collected into the boot and not the cabin. the design I meantioned would fix this. Also make sure you have the right dimensions for your box or it will sound like crap. Get the specs off the manifacture of the subs.

25-07-02, 17:44 GMT+10#12 urrrrrr mine are faced backwards? 2 * 12" and i feel every little punch better then what i did when i had them in another box facing forwards... this is probably because the box is now the proper literage size for each sub.... but i tell ya it hasnt made no difference in sound... i love the sound setup i got

29-07-02, 00:24 GMT+10#16 i have my alpine 12inch facing backwards, and its proven louder than facing forward (used DB meter).. i can feel every beat, without the gain right up.. it also has to go thru my gas cylinder...
my mate has a 1200w Boss amp running his two 12inch subs, and a 4x250w boss amp running 2 sets of splits.. sounds very nice...

29-07-02, 14:22 GMT+10#17 well for a start turn ur amp gain down, all its doing at the moment is clipping when u turn it up to loud, also design a better box for the kicker 12,like a 1.5 to 2cft ported, piss the boss amp off to,they are not much chop!!
