I went to the panel beater today to get a quote on respraying my bonnet cos it has a piece of ****ed up paint in the middle of it. I found out that this was cuased from excess heat radiating off the turbo, so the guys rang up holden and holden told them that there is actually supposed to be a heat shield that goes across the top of the cross over pipe and screws onto the top of the inlet manifold. I was just curious if anyone has one of these on thier cars cos in all the turbos i've seen i have never seen one of these heat shields...ever!! Also if anyone happens to have one they don't need then i would like to purchase it.

i dunno about your description but there is a heat shielf type thing on mine that sits above the turbo, sorta next to the rocker cover and i think bolted to the rocker cover. this might be what you are missing.

guys it is the standard heat sheld from the factory and it only fits the standard manifold so that is why you dont see it on a car that has a diff turbo and manifold it helps alot to keep the turbo from cooking your bonnet

They are talking about the heat mat on the bonnet, the black mat that clips in.

I'm sure they weren't talking about the underbonnet mat, but if anyone has one of these i would also like to buy it.

Hey guyz, there were actually 2 heat shields, (well 3 if u count the 1 on the bonnet) that came out factory with the vl turbo's. 1 of em sits on the right rail and connects to the firewall, and blocks the heat off the exhaust housing of the turbo/exhaust. The second one is the one that sat ontop of the exhaust manifold, and screws into them, and blocked heat from the your manifold and turbo, getting to your bonet. Ive changed turbo's, etc, and still retained both with a few lil mods 2 em lol. The exhaust shields are pretty common however the exhaust shield is pretty rare nowadays, anywayz i got a few of both of em, so email me at [email removed] if any1 is in need of one. Cheerz

im not too sure actually, it may be an aftermarket or a home job, it looks pretty basic, .. i dont know. sorry i dont have any pics, gotta get a scanner first.. it sits pretty much right on top of the turbo, i cant see the turbo unless i remove it.. bolts onto the side of the rocker cover, and again on the other side where it joins almost to the firewall. i dont know what else to tell ya.. ill try and get some pics up soon. andrew
