Ok, i need a Decompression plate, anyone know where i can get one from for cheap, and are of good quality? I am in melbourne. I missed out on buying one second hand through the tradingpost for 60 bucks Ill get on the phone tomorrow or monday and call up some workshops to see whats the go. Hopefully something might be able to be sourced for cheap. Also has anyone installed them, and what type of head gaskets do you use, as you need to go for a thinner one, otherwise the compression will be too low. Any help, info etc. always appreciated. Thanks. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

darkstar is this going on the na motor or your vlt. if its the vlt then dont bother with it. if you really want to , they are about $110 , you will need 2 h/gaskets , get genuine nissan units. it wont drop the comp tooooo low if its on the na (down to 7.5:1) but it might go too low if its on a vlt. anyway , choice is yours , oh and they are pretty simple to chuck in.

7.5 isnt too bad considering that the standard turbo is 7.8 Would the head have to be shaved flat to put it all together?

I was just thinking, don't do it often. [hurts too much] What would a good metal head gasket do for you compression or would it still be to high to run decent boost? Just thought it might be another option. Getting your head shaved would just increase the compression again wouldnt it?

hey why bother? keep the boost ~10psi with an intercooler and that way you can keep the performance of the n/a off boost.. if that matters to you. 9.0:1 isnt too high for a turbo these days..

yep shaving the head will increase the compression, as the CC of the combustion chamber will be smaller. Dunno what to do, just getting fed up with all the bull**** if you know what i mean.

dont bother with the decomp plate.. 9.0:1 is fine. i am running an atmo skyline with 3" zaust and big cooler and wound the boost to 15 psi no worries.. waiting for a dry day to see how much i can get out of it (wheelspin) but i really would not bother with a decomp plate.. just wind the timing down a little..

you can call ridgecrest in dromana and get a copper one made for around 100 dollars. You can get any thickness you want so you can set your required compression. Look them up in the whitepages if you want.

I got my decomp plate from Mahnkens turbotune in Moorabbin( or next suburb down). It was about 90-100. He told me that the head has to be shaved 30 thou from standard. The decomp plate was 40 thick plus the two head gaskets were about 15 thou each. So if my maths is right that would drop the compression .30.
