im not an expert on car stereo but i know a lot of you guys on here are quite good
well, i run 4 speakers off my deck
2 in front
2 in parcel shelf
NO AMP
ever since ive had the car one of the speakers on the parcel shelf is louder than the other one. im wondering why the reason is. so far ive checked the wiring from the speaker to the deck. i noticed that the speakers were installed **** and they were attached by the "twisting" technique. anyway, both speakers are attached this way but 1 is fine, while the other one is poo. i re-attached all connections.
originally i thought one of my speakers was crap, so i replaced em and the same thing happened. the other day i re-attached the wire to the speaker to get a better contact. i think it made that speaker a little louder.
then i looked at the wiring of the speakers, well, the wire itself. the good speaker has green wiring and the **** one has grey. i think the grey wiring is quite thin.
so, thin wire has a greater resistance than thicker wire cause it doesnt allow the current to flow as fast?? is that correct??
if so, do you think my problem lies in having crappy thin wire? should i replace it with thicker wire and solder the connections??
would that fix the problem?
OR
have people had this problem before and its another problem in itself such as a problem with the deck, wires touching each other etc??
what should i do? :?
help would be greatly appreciated guys!!

well if they r both two different sizes i'd re-run them soo they have the both same size going to the speakers.
r u sure it's not the speakers themselves? have u tried swaping over the speakers?
really should pull it all out and re-do it the RIGHT WAY

this is probably a long shot, but have you faded the sound to one side via your deck by accident???

replace the wires. its like $1.50 / metre at bunnings. U don't need anything snazzy unless you run an amp. Other than the fader I can't think what else it'd be.. If you wanna know for sure test the current using one of those little electrical gadgets. If the currents are the same maybe the speakers are to blame.
If running the wires is a hassle, get one from the deck end, tie on the new wire (or tape - stays thinner), and pull thru from the other end. Getting them outa the dash is the bad bit. then just lay down the side of the car and thru back seat.

when i was first looking at my car and took it for a test drive there was this weird clunking sound coming from the back when i hit the brakes hard or hit bumps - turned out the back speakers wern't even screwed in, they were just sitting in the parcel tray. And all 4 speakers were wired to one channel on the 4 channel deck.
sorry - a bit off topic but i just thought i would share it with you's

03-07-02, 22:26 GMT+10#10 just incase ur worried rewireing is easy as hell, i just wired my own 6x9's from the deck back, my car is missing the shelf type thing under the ashtray, the bit that the shelf goes onto however clips in and screws in, u can unclip it and pull down and u get enough room to grab the wires at the end of the deck, u can then take out the ashtray and feed the wires from the deck and the speaker wires out thru that for easy connection, the black strip on the door edge clips up, and theres clip in screws on the carpet edges to hold it down, very easy to do
also about the wires touching, i put the wires in before the speakers, sometimes i would get crackles in my front speakers, shifting the open wires in the back got rid of this, i just taped the connectors up and that was the end of my problems so it could be that too
