Hey Guys, im back! hehe - after paying off a few schooling debts to the old man - i should be done within a month or so - so its back to the drawing board to boost my baby up Anyways - with my vl turbo - As i am doing a overhaul on her soon i have a few questions - 1) I only have a 3.45 Single spinner in the back - and i have been told that i can buy a nissan silouette diff for approx 150 bucks, replace the springs in the diff and bang i i have a factory LSD 3.9 diff which can go straight in. well - can it be done? are they strong enough to hold almost 240rwkw? its either that or a full minispool 2) Next am i better off putting in vr4 injectors or bosch 036's ? i know that with the bosch ones i dont have to change the fuel rail as they bolt straight in, but whats the deal with the installation of vr4 injectors and what would have to change and $$$$ + is a bosch motorsport fuel pump any good? 3)Next!!! and plz i need help on this one too - the standard vl turbo bottom end! well - i seriously want to run my baby on approx 20psi with the correct tuning and fuel management of course (wolf3d v4)- but - in all honesty - will the standard head and bottom end take it? if not - forgies?what would i have to change on the bottom end? pistons? rods? rings? how much for the parts themselves? i already know someone that could put it all together for me. 4) How much am i looking at for a complete calais interior - including the dash down to the carpet - has to be in pretty good condition. 5) Thinking of change the front brakes to slotted as well - how much for the pair? will they fit straight on? 6) now i have a mate who said he would respray my car complete for 200 bucks - provided i supply all the **** - i am thinking of going white again acrylic style! with a blue pearl base. i can get the paint from another mate cheap - but what other **** will i need to buy? 7) I have been quoted just around 5 - 600 bucks for a centreforce clutch with a 2000pound pressure plate for my MX7 Manual box- will that hold all the power? hehe 8)My turbo is already a t04 hybrid - t04 front with a t03 v trim back cut back - will this be ok on 20psi? i know shes in perfect nick - will not move at all. worth hiflowing? if so how much again Sorry to do this guys - i have been researching this for friggen ages - and know that alot of you guys out there have already done all of this so i am hoping that someone will be of great help - I want to budget approx 5 - 6 grand max for the whole shaboogle. My specs on the car are already on the www.calaisturbo.com page - under hi performers - Petros - Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok here is my opinion.... 1.make sure the sillouette diff is 28 spline and is same mounts then yes u can. 2. Go bosch injectors less stuffing around and cheaper. bosch motorsport pumps are good just make sure your internal pump is working as that is how i broke my $700 bosch pump 3.well there are a few people that say they run std bottom end on heaps of boost (16psi + ) everyday and dont have a problem. I tend to go by the theory that after 16psi u will require forged pistons. if u are going to thrash your motor get the bottom end feshened up as a bit of insurance 4. I think the general price is $1000 5. if u have vlt brakes then the slotted discs can be purchased visit www.dba.com.au DO NOT BUT CROSS DRILLED DISCS FROM DBA 6. if they are gonna respray it in the back shed then it will not come out perfect, u need the car stripped primed etc. best to ask a panel beater 7.my hi torque clutch for my vl cost $1300 with custom pressure plate installed. it holds power well except for launches at drags 8. Mt hi flow t3 is good for almost 400rwhp and 12.08 1/4 mile

The standard bottom end, and cast pistons will hold upto almost 500rwhp, as a mate of mine has proven, with standard vl turbo injectors aswell. Aslong as u keep the engine away from detonation, then the factory bit n pieces do the job extremely well. Forgies dont offer an extra increase in power, theyre just a safety precaution, and can take a bit more then the factory ones, however if its gonna let go, its gonna let go, save ya buks, keep ur engine running well, and therell be no probz dude.

Quote: 500rwhp, as a mate of mine has proven, with standard vl turbo injectors aswel BULL**** U cannot get that power with std injectors. what boost is he running with std motor? I think u are dribbling a bit.

I think im not mate, Sin himself knows about it, the car had 2 extra injectors, and was running approximately 30 psi, if the engine isnt strained or hurt, through detonation, theres not problems with the standard ****.

That is bull****. My injectors are running at full cycle and im only putting out half that power.

What u on about man? full cycle pfft! the car got 2 aftermarket-extra injectors, the extra injectors arent standard vl turbo injectors, so therefore how would u know when their full cycle is? Thye cars got a fuel setup, along with a malpassi, and its still got heaps of fuel in it,

petros rebuilding your bottom end would be worth it. acl make high quality cast pistons to suit the vlt , they cost about $500 with rings. then youll need your general cleaning and boring etc. getting it all balanced is preferable too. also if you are going to do a backyard paint job then acrylic will be fine. its much easier to work with that 2pac. good luck with ur build

just blue printed my bottom end, cost me 1k for machine work, $650 for acl engine kit and $70 for a copper head gasket. that included crack testing, line bore, bore, hone, deck, o-ring, polished crank, shot peened crank, arp bolts, polished rods, shot peened rods, small end bushes, balanced rotating assembly, etc. should be able to handle almost anything (clear of detonation) and more importantly be reliable!

definately get the arp bolts tho, $100 (included in the above price) for piece of mind.

hey guys thanks heaps for the replies!!! just quickly - where exactly can i buy these parts from and how much i am thinking of taking off the decomp plate too when i take off the head to get the bottom end done too. it is currently running 15psi perfectly with stock injectors and bottom end with a decomp of course - if anything running rich still will this change if i take off the decomp? it is a turbo motor - just previous owner put a decomp in there coz apparently he wanted to run heaps of boost one day - am i better off putting in another decomp plate? what will the difference be without one? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Be aware, ACL pistons don't handle even the slightest detonation, go forgies.

I agree Forged pistons are the way to go if you have got the money to do it, they are a added safety net.

now where in the original post was extra injectors stated all you said was std injectors. so learn to state facts properly. I dont want to be in that car when it comes time to catch the bits of engine flying through the bonnet

VLT87: Mate, yer sorry i left out that its got the fuel setup, thats why i included it in the second post. The cars been running 4 a while and the only reason it was done like that, with most standard parts retained, was to show how far u could go with them. Now, spending big bux isnt a priority with every1, and showing people that using what they've got is just as powerful (however yes it does lack in reliability) isnt wrong is it?

Thanks for the replies guys - I have rung around a couple of places in melb and i am pretty sure i could get my hands on a couple - I presume i will have to change the stock vl turbo ecu if i put in 036? also - is it possible to have the original vl turbo ecu remapped? not in the way of going to chiptorque or something and having a chip put in, but in the way of having the who thing remapped/reprogrammed to suit all the new **** on my car? i have been wondering about this for ages. apparently i have also heard that towards the end of the year that wolf will be bringing out a ECU for i think mr2's as well as vl turbos which plug straight into the loom and have already a decent base map that can be easily reprogrammed, so no stuffing around with adding extra sensors, kinda like plug and play but i am trying to get a bang for your buck street car which will only ever see the track a couple of times - hoping for 11 - 12's realistically out of it (5spd manual too !) i have also read up a bit on the microfueller set up - effective? pros and cons? look thanks heaps guys
