just got some bad news. my auto needs a rebuild. i got quoted around $2300 , thats fully rebuilt, strengthened and shift kitted. i live in bendigo, and i was wondering what kind of price i would be paying if i travelled to melbourne and got the auto rebuilt there (incase melb is cheaper than bendigo) so if any of you guys can give me some prices of what you paid for your autos that would be great. andrew

Try Ratco in Dandy.. they strengthened my shatco with Kevlar cl, new converter, blah... and a stage 2 shift kit.. even fixed the overdrive problem I had for a year, all for $1500 I shopped around b4hand and Yarra Valley was 1st on my shopping list, after hearing all the good accolades theyve been getting, but since the guy there (it wasnt Tony) told me they were up to their eyeballs in rebuild jobs throughout the week, they were forced to beef up their price from 1800 to 2500.... so i thought far Q! I'm goin some place else

Just a quick note..you can save yourself a heap of money by yanking and reinstalling the auto yourself. If you are in the boonies, strap the trans to a pallet and send it to wherever, couriers cost bugger all these days. I got an outboard motor powerhead sent Melbourne/Sydney for $65, and it would be about the same size and weight. It's pretty straightforward, time consuming, but if you're on a budget, it's the way to go. Grab a good mate and some beer and the time will fly! Regards, Andrew.
