hey i got an NA, and was wondering how much power difference getting extractors and a 2.5 inch sport system will make to a Stock Auto... i just put in a new recon engine, but have noticed its a bit sluggish and my mates vk (injected + Extractors) seems to anhilate me quite often. i got a quote for $650 for extractors and the exhaust, and was wondering if thats a rip off or not bad, theres only 2 exhaust places where i live so would it be worth spending a bit of petrol money and driving into adelaide to get it done if it will be chaeper? any advice would be good guys

Whut size (inchwise) exhaust was that quote for? I already had 2 1/2" + extractors on mine when I bought it, but $650 sounds pretty decent (I had quotes on $750 when I was investigating this). I can't suggest many places round here though.. You should be caning VK's though!

the quote was for a 2.5 inch exhaust and i know i should be caning vk's... its a pretty nice and quick vk tho, its pretty stock but still beats my other mates stock r31, and a very clapped vl turbo... i think oh and this new recond engine of mine has only done 2000km now, so will it start to open up a bit more a gain power as it gains km's (my mate with the vk, told me his mechanic told him that his car should be starting to open up now that its done 15,000 (he got a recon as well)) so i was just wondering if that was true or, if right now its as good as my car will go until i start doing some mods..

hey JVL87, i believe he said it was an N/A    but he is right. any VL will beat a 3.3 injected piece of ****!!!! even my n/a with just an exhaust on gas will beat 5 litre stock VK's anyday, up to about 90km/h!!!

haha yeah the injected 3.3 is a dog of a motor... maybe u got a dodge recon motor, cos a stock na VL should **** any 6 VK cylinder to pieces No na VL would need extractors or exhaust to beat a VK 6...

yea i know it sucks... but as i asked before this new recond engine of mine has only done 2000km now, so will it start to open up a bit more a gain power as it gains km's (my mate with the vk, told me his mechanic told him that his car should be starting to open up now that its done 15,000 (he got a recon as well)) so i was just wondering if that was true or, if right now its as good as my car will go until i start doing some mods..

i put extractors and 2.5" on my old n/a, made it sound good but didnt make a huge difference to power. after my first drive of a vlt nothing seemed to make a difference to the n/a.

have a good efi specialist look at your mechanics. They'll do full testing and pinpoint probs with your computer / timing / sensors for about $80+parts. If one sensor isn't responding properly you'll lose lots more power than extractors will gain. If you have a reconned engine you should get the efi and computer up perfectly to scratch. Thats where $$ per kW will count. THEN add extractors. You'll look stupid with a slow car and big exhaust, and smart when you beat him with stock everything.

Ive come across some wicked fast 202's, some injected others just carbed......i would not be ashamed to go down to a mild 202.

Probably not worth the bother and the money As long as it 'goes' like a normal VL don't worry too much... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I got a quote for my VL 5sp Manual of $580 for twister extractors and 2 1/2 all the way back...I also got other quotes which were less $400-500 but the extractors they used werent of as good quality and performance.

Homeboys and Homegurls here is the deal. I have just put Lukey extractors and a 2 1/2" exhaust on my bros car first we just put the extractors on and bolted them up to the stock exhaust to notice the difference. We found that - the car was heaps quieter inside - power from the engine felt alot smoother - an increase in power was only noticed from 0 - 40kph. then we bolted up the 2 1/2" zorst and noticed nothing else apart from the sound inside and outside the car. hope that gives u an idea of what u might get out of it.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

jay a good mate of mine had a vk calais with ther injected 3.3 dunger. anyway , it actually went like a machine , he did the usual kind of mods , and id put money on it beating quite a lot of na vls. anyway , his car was very very good condition etc , that may have played a part.
