Try replacing the bearing when changing the CAS, coz if you don't it will keep killing the CAS.

Also give the slotted disk it the dizzy a good clean, the slightest hint of dust in there will do the same! thats why the bearing needs replacing cos of the red seal goes brittle and flakes into dust!! Does your tacho jump around?

its pretty common for the wiring to the plug for the cas to stuff up - the wires break away from the terminals in the plug and it's just the rubber boot holding them in contact.

your mechanic is ripping you off. Who is telling you to put a new one in? Dont go back and go to a proper mechanic, most of the time you can just clean them up (probaby what your mechanic is doing then charging you for a new one.)

when i bought my calais off the owner he said that NIZPRO kept telling him to replace the CAS too now that i think of it.. He then went to ATS and within 5 mins they diagnosed it as a rusted connector coming from the CAS, replaced it for bugger all, and the car never had a problem after that.. i think that is what 87calais is refering to also..
