Before converting my rb30 to a turbo ringing around a turbo (manual) gearbox are around $2000. Is there and what are other cheaper gearboxs solutions. Also what would be the pricing of a new diff and the lot. CHEERS Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have a 5 speed turbo with a RB20DET ox in it. I don't know how strong they are (some one might b able to help me out here) but this is my second box. When the first one blew i asked around to find out how strong they are but got several different opinions. My second box will b ready this week and cost $650 with a short shifter.

I paid $900 for my box with a flywheel and clutch, shifter but no tailshaft. I saw one going for $600 on full boost, my mate just bought one for $900 the other day too and another frined bought one about two years ago for $600. All genuine MX7 VLT five speeds in good conditon.

Yeah, but how do you get on modifying the celica box to fit the engine and gearbox mounts? It'd probably be easier just to get the MX7 and have everything fit right in

the RB25DET 5 speed is supposed to be better (correct me if i am wrong) than the VLT 5 speed and will bolt up to your block, but may need to change the yoke on the tailshaft. Should be heaps around the Jap wreckers. not sure on price.

the rb25det 5 speed is ***in expensive (2500$) and not alot of wreckers have them. The MX7 is as good just older. The rb20det box is the same as the VL NA 5 speed box but again newer. I think the MX7 is the best option for the rb30et if you can get a hold of one in good nick. supra and celica boxs are good and the supra as tough as nails but require some stuffin around with adapter plates and bellhousings. (and remember there are different types of supra boxes ie turbo and NA, the turbo one is obvously strongest but costs quite a bit more methinks.) yeah
