Im having a little trouble with my stereo in my car, can any one help me. Problem is that when i turn up the volume on the head unit it starts to crackle and the face flashed like there is a shortage of power. But when i turn down the volume on the amp for the sub it is all fine. I have a new alternator and batery. Could it be that the speakers are all gone. There is no distorsion just crackling. Ive gota pioneer head unit and sony xplod 6X9's in the rear, pioneer splits on the front, two amps (4 X 150w and 2X 300w) audio lines and a kicker freeair 400 or 450w and the sub has a 1 farod stinger cap, so yeah im lost. There has been no troubles with that setup for about a yeah now, so.... what's happn so anyone got any idea or is it just stuffed :?:

Is it all the speakers that are crackling? The first thing that comes to mind it that one of the speaker leads is touching the chassis somewhere. Try disconnecting each of you're speakers one at a time until it stops... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i have a big enough power cable from the head unit to the amp. It was all good till a few days ago might try my connections and see what that does

its either a voice coil problem or you have a bad earth somewhere. check all negative ground (speaker, sub , amp ,h/u) also make sure the tabs where you solder speaker wire on the speakers arent broken or touching any part of metal parcel tray. good luck

I had the same thing when I installed a head unit myself. Its something to do with a 'common earth' thing. Ask your local car audio place what its about and I'm sure they could tell you in 2 mins. I personally had no idea what he was talking about but he sure fixed it.

thanks guys for the help. I tidied up all the connections on my amp and it had the same crackln noise when i turn it up loud. I turn down one of the dials on the amp not the bass one the other one (the LPF i think or the other 1) anyhows if doesn't crackle when it did but a few notches lowder it does. But thats when i really give the stereo a good pumpn, but u get that and i'll get over it and yeah... thanks peoples

earth the amp straight off the battery, if you earth it to the chassis it is possible to get chassis noices into you amp and out putted through you speakers making a crackling sort of effect. sort of like when u dont have a radio station tuned properly is the sound it makes

Wrong. U never run a long earth cable...shortest is best.

Thats spot on Morgz... keep the earth lead as short as possible. Also when running power to your amp from the battery, try and keep the inline fuse within 6" of the battery. I just grabbed a stinger fuse holder and mounted it just near the strut tower.
