Hey all.. dont know anyone here but iwas hoping for a bit of feedback here..
Wrote my VLT off a couple of weeks ago.. sittin in my garage waiting a new shell.. when i find one.
Just wondering.. whats the cost (roughly) of a rebuild on a rb30et? Would it be cheaper to go with an rb25det motor? or an s14 turbo motor even?

about $600 for a complete turbo engine kit (std pistons, gaskets, bearings, core plugs, etc)
1k for the works in machining (bore, line bore, deck, o ring, balance crank, size crank, shotpeen crank, balance rods, shotpeen rods, size rods, small end bushes, arp rod bolts, etc)
build it yourself, or pay someone??? do it yourself, they are a very builder friendly motor!!! (if there is such a thing!!)
your already at $1600, but its a new motor and will give you no trouble for another 300,000 km!!!! the rb25det may not need rebuilding, or may need rebuilding soon, and you''ll have to fork out more than the $1600 for a build.
don't have to worry about cops and engineers certificates if you stay with the rb30et, but the rb25det will go better!

does anyone know where i can get a rb26DETT for a reasonable price?
i'm thinking of rebuilding my RB30ET for $5000 (forged pistons etc.), but maybe an RB26DETT would be the way to go.
ICE009 - I think there is a RB26DETT in the Melb trading post at the moment for $5000
MOREPSI - I'd suggest its an RB25DET but fitted with twin turbos.

..hmm doesnt say, probably not by the sounds of it. Should bolt up to an MX7 or RB25 box though shouldnt it? Your not thinking of going 4WD are you? I did see complete GTR 4WD engine and driveline on Performance Forums I think for sale not long ago?!
