Have you checked the timing?

Compression chech, fuel, spark and timing. Work your way through all these. I'd check fuel filter for blockage, than remove the timing cover an check the timing belt tension an wear. Do a comp test and check the timing all these cost nothing to do.

Know anyone with a fuel pressure gauge + hose Equipment? CHeck pressure at fuel feed line before getting to fuel rail.

I don't think it's the timing, it came on gradually over the space of a month it's not like its jumped a tooth, it has power when revving, I don't know anyone with gauge set unfortunately. Is it worth just replacing the pressure reg or are they expensive?, could the vacuum line going to it being blocked cause a problem? I could check that

ok so ive taken it for a drive just revving the crap out of it to get anywhere, it misses on what sounds like 2 cyls when high revs, i get home and i hear a buzzing from the engine bay, around the intake man, i feel around and the fuel pressure reg is bussing its head off and vibrating, i took the vacuum line off it and it now runs good enough to drive, almost perfectly, think i may have found the problem???? let me know your thoughts,, thanks any help is much appriecated. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
