Planning on getting a 3 inch exhaust from the turbo back and was wondering what do they do with the old dump pipe. I have heard of cutting the dump pipe from just after the wastegate and welding on the 3 inch pipe. Is there an easier way like buying a 3 inch dump pipe and bolting it on? Where can I get one from? Cheers George

Most turbo places can make up a 3" dump pipe you can bolt up to the engine pipe. Will cost about $250 depending on what you get. *Warning* You might brake some studs removing the old dump pipe.

I just got quoted $750 for 3" system from the dump pipe back, includes hi flow cat + rear muffler. Another $250 for the dump pipe. sigmund's spot on with price. Currently I've got a 2.5" system with a split muffler, sounds like a wet fart. I'm trying to justify going to a 3" system. The most boost I plan to put into the donk is 15psi. The majority of the cars use is at 110 kph on the highway going to work and back. Is the 2.5" system capable of handling 15 psi or will the 3" system give me better performance?? Will i get more of an exhaust 'drone' in the cabin?? Remember the majority of the cars life is part throttle on the highway. Cheers guys

MiniVL i got a 3inch system from dump to tip (highflow 3" cat) could realy feel the difference from a 2 1/4" system i was running with the old n/a motor. also theres not really any drone, sounds pretty cool. and yeah im on the m1 a fair bit.

Thanks NitrO. I'm hoping to head down to the exhaust shop later today to have a "chat", I'm just waiting on my new cooler off pro100 to arrive today or tomorrow.

I got one form race, i will find the photo now... make sure who ever you get it from doesn't weld to the cast, it will break. you need to get the dump flange machined and then a thin (4mm) alloy plate welded to the back of the dump, then that plate welded to the flange. the studs from the exhaust housing to the dump should then also hold the flange and the rear of the dump... I know what i mean... hahaha... the photo's below are when it first got done, it broke. then race admitted they ****ed up and fixed it properly. Very good service, got it fixed the same day.

ATS in melbourne do a dump pipe mod where they cut the pipe off at the flange and weld on a cummins V-band clamp on and make a custom 3" dump pipe with the other half of the V-band clamp on it. Had one done years ago and worked beatifully!
